From all nomination 8 Award Nominees are chosen via a committee and selection process. At each of the Breakfasts throughout the year, 2 of these Award Nominees present to the audience and broadly outline the secrets behind their success. During the final Gala Breakfast at the end of the Year the "Business of the Year" Award Winner is announced.

 When manufacturing minnow Colorpak (www.colorpak.com.au) swallowed an industry giant in 2010, it was billed as an industry game-changer and, not unexpectedly, came with numerous challenges.

The mid-tier industrial packaging player’s acquisition of Carter Holt Harvey’s folding carton operations was a bold move at a time when manufacturing was feeling more than the pinch.

Job losses and site closures followed as Colorpak restructured to improve its competitive position, further fuelling the negative headlines about the death of Australian manufacturing.

Yet, shareholder returns of 120%; 9-12% growth year on year; a doubling of operational capacity underline a success story that combines the mantras, ‘survival of the fittest’ and ‘who dares wins’.

As 2019 comes to a close the MBA community gathered together on November 29th to celebrate and reward the achievements of the outstanding and diverse businesses located across our dynamic patch in the South East region of Melbourne. This event provided the opportunity to showcase the outstanding Business of the Year nominees and award the prestige title to Footwork Podiatric Laboratory, along with crowning our Innovation Award winner - Prana Chai, 2019 Young Achiever and the Service Business Excellence Award winner Chatfield Ozcool. The morning also featured special guest speaker JB Hi-Fi CEO, Richard Murray, who presented his insights into innovation and success in challenging environments.
