Melbourne Business Awards Update

Dear Melbourne Business Awards Community

Last year the Melbourne Business Awards Committee announced that we needed to defer our Breakfasts programme for 2020. This was brought about by the onset of Covid-19 and the fallout following the lockdown environment.  That we found ourselves in similar circumstances in 2021 heightened the need to realistically review our charter and capacity to rebuild an awards programme.

The Melbourne Business Awards Committee has now taken the difficult decision to close the Association that has proudly represented so many over a long and illustrious history. We are all extremely proud to have served in a volunteer capacity to provide this forum to reward and recognise excellence in Manufacturing and Business generally.  We are sad that these circumstances have prevailed against our forum as it has withstood many a challenge over the years but we remain optimistic that a new breed of enterprising business and community minded people will find a way to do what we have done so well for nearly 30 years.

Ironically, perhaps now more than ever, we as a business community need to congregate and collaborate to best meet an uncertain but no doubt opportune future, and whilst the Association will formally cease, I am sure that those who have supported the Melbourne Business Awards will continue to offer their support, where opportunities exist, to help business, especially our manufacturers, to not only survive but to thrive in this new world of change and opportunity.

The Melbourne Business Awards will remain custodian of a long history of effort and success from many people, but we now throw the gauntlet out to the next group of leaders to pick up from where we left off.

With respect and many thanks, on behalf of the Melbourne Business Awards,

Rod Shell
